E-mail Setup Support

MacMail Email Setup

  • Click on the MacMail icon
  • Click on Mail on the top bar, and choose Preferences.
  • If you have not already created an email account in MacMail, you will need to.  If an account is already configured, click on the + sign on the left side, under the Accounts Panel.

Mac 1

Account Type: POP

Description: Something that designates this as your TCT email account

Email Address: This is going to be your full TCT email address i.e emailaddress@tctwest.net

Full Name: You can put your name here.

This is how it will appear when someone receives email from you.

Password: This field is for your password for your TCT email account. The password is case sensitive.

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.tctwest.net

You may have to click the drop down arrow and Edit SMTP Server List, to add this server name.

Mac 2

Once you have entered the server name of mail.tctwest.net, click on the Advanced tab.

Mac 3

The Use default ports (25, 465, 587) radio button should be selected, if not, select it

The Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) should be unchecked, if not, uncheck it.

Authentication should be set to Password, if not, set to Password.

User Name: Put your full TCT email address here

Password: This field is for your TCT email account password. The password is case sensitive.

Click OK to finish and save those settings.

Click the top Advanced Tab after all other information has been added.

Mac 4

The check boxes should already be checked by default.

Make sure to uncheck the Use SSL checkbox and that Authentication has been set to Password.

You may have to click on the drop down menu arrow to set it to Password.

Be sure to save all settings by clicking on one of the other top tabs, like Composing or Signatures.  A dialog box will ask if you want to save the settings.

Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP radio button Click Next

Check the box for Manually configure server settings then hit next.

Select the Internet E-mail radio button

Click Next to continue

Account type:

POP3 – is a server setting that will download all your email from the server onto your computer.

IMAP – is a server setting that will not download your emails from the server. They will be stored on the server.

Incoming and Outgoing mail servers: mail.tctwest.net

User Name: This is going to be your full email address i.e emailaddress@tctwest.net

Password:

This field is for your password for your email account.

Make sure that the Remember  password box is checked.

Click on the More Settings … button to setup Authentication on the Outgoing Server Outlook 4

Select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button

Click the Advanced tab to check Advanced settings

Outgoing mail port needs to be set to 25 or 587.

Incoming mail port needs to be set to 110.

Delivery  refers to the 3 options that will control how the server handles mail items after they have been downloaded to the Outlook client.  This can be a helpful setting when accessing the same email account from several devices, such as from your desktop computer, your mobile phone, and iPad.

Use the Re-test button if you don’t see these results

The Outgoing server needs to be setup with Authentication, and it should be set to Normal password

Once the desired results are setup, click on the Done button

Server Settings  refer to the multiple options that will control how the Thunderbird client behaves and how the server handles mail items after they have been downloaded to the Thunderbird client.  The Leave messages on server option can be a helpful setting when accessing the same email account from several devices, such as from your desktop computer, your mobile phone, and iPad.

Click on the Outgoing Server (SMTP) category to check the outgoing server settings

If the outgoing server is not set to mail.tctwest.net or if the other settings don’t match, click on the TCT email account to select it, and then click the Edit button on the right side

Click the Next button and then the Finish button on the next page

Issues with Windows Live Mail Setup How To

Windows 3

Incoming and Outgoing mail servers both should be named mail.tctwest.net

Type in the full TCT email address and input the password.  Passwords are case sensitive.

Mark the Remember password checkbox and select the radio button for Log on using clear text authentication.

Check the My server requires authentication check box and the click on the Settings button.

Windows 4

Select the radio button for Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

Click the OK button.

Windows 5

Outgoing mail port needs to be set to 25 or 587.
