MacMail Email Setup

To set up your MacMail account, using your TCT email account settings, follow these steps:

  • First, click on the MacMail icon
  • Click on Mail on the top bar, and choose Preferences.
  • If you have not already created an email account in MacMail, you will need to. If an account is already configured, click on the + sign on the left side, under the Accounts Panel.

Account Type: POP

Description: Something that designates this as your TCT email account

Email Address: This is going to be your full TCT email address (Example: emailaddress@tctwest.net)

Full Name: You can put your name here.

This is how it will appear when someone receives email from you.

Password: This field is for your password for your TCT email account. The password is case sensitive.

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.tctwest.net

You may have to click the drop down arrow and Edit SMTP Server List, to add this server name.

Once you have entered the server name of mail.tctwest.net, click on the Advanced tab.

The Use default ports (25, 465, 587) radio button should be selected, if not, select it.

The Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) should be unchecked, if not, uncheck it.

Authentication should be set to Password, if not, set to Password.

User Name: Put your full TCT email address here.

Password: This field is for your TCT email account password. The password is case sensitive.

Click OK to finish and save those settings.

Click the top Advanced Tab after all other information has been added.

The check boxes should already be checked by default.

Make sure to uncheck the Use SSL checkbox and that Authentication has been set to Password.

You may have to click on the drop down menu arrow to set it to Password.

Be sure to save all settings by clicking on one of the other top tabs, like Composing or Signatures.  A dialog box will ask if you want to save the settings.

Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP radio button. Click Next.

Check the box for Manually configure server settings then hit next.

Select the Internet E-mail radio button.

Click Next to continue.

Your Name: You can put your name here. This is how it will appear when someone receives email from you.

Account type:
POP3 – is a server setting that will download all your email from the server onto your computer.
IMAP – is a server setting that will not download your emails from the server. They will be stored on the server.

Incoming and Outgoing mail servers: mail.tctwest.net

User Name: This is going to be your full email address i.e emailaddress@tctwest.net

Password: This field is for your password for your email account.

Make sure that the Remember password box is checked.

Click on the More Settings … button to setup Authentication on the Outgoing Server.

Click on the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox to select the option.

Select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button.

Click the Advanced tab to check Advanced settings.

Outgoing mail port needs to be set to 25 or 587.

Incoming mail port needs to be set to 110.

Delivery refers to the 3 options that will control how the server handles mail items after they have been downloaded to the Outlook client.  This can be a helpful setting when accessing the same email account from several devices, such as from your desktop computer, your mobile phone, and iPad.

Click on Tools then select Accounts.  Select the Mail tab and the click Add and select Mail.

Display Name: You can put your name here.  This is how it will appear when someone receives email from you.

Click Next.

This is going to be your full email address i.e emailaddress@tctwest.net

Click Next.

If POP3 is not the selected server, click on the drop down menu arrow button to select it.

Incoming mail and Outgoing mail servers should both be set to mail.tctwest.net

Click Next.

Password: This is your password for your TCT email account.

Make sure that the Remember password box is checked.

Click Next.

Thunderbird Email Setup

Click on Skip this and use my existing email.

Your Name:
You can put your name here. This is how it will appear when someone receives email from you.

Email Address:
This is going to be your full email address i.e emailaddress@tctwest.net

Password:
This field is for your password for your TCT email account. The password is case sensitive.

Click the Remember password checkbox.

Click Continue.

You will see this progress message, looking up configuration and trying common server names.

Make sure that the POP3 radio button is selected.

Click Manual config.

Incoming and Outgoing Server hostname should both be set to mail.tctwest.net

Use the Re-test button if you don’t see these results.

The Outgoing server needs to be setup with Authentication, and it should be set to Normal password.

Once the desired results are setup, click on the Done button.

You will see this Mail Account Setup warning box after clicking Done.

Mark the checkbox I understand the risks and then click the Done button.

Windows Live Email Setup

Email address:
This is going to be your full email address i.e emailaddress@tctwest.net

Password:
This field is for your password for your email account.

Make sure that the Remember this password box is checked.

Display Name:
You can put your name here.

Check the box for Manually configure server settings then hit next.

Windows Live

Incoming server information

Server type:
POP – is a server setting that will download all your email from the server onto your computer.
IMAP – is a server setting that will not download your emails from the server. They will be stored on the server. 

Server address:
mail.tctwest.net port 110

DO NOT check requires a secure connection.

For IMAP the port is 143.

Authenticate using:
Clear text

Logon user name:
This is going to be your full email address i.e emailaddress@tctwest.net 

Outgoing server information

Server address:
mail.tctwest.net

Check Requires authentication.

Click the Next button and then the Finish button on the next page.
