Tri County Telephone

Tri County Telephone Association, Inc. was formed in 1953 to provide local telephone service to rural Big Horn Basin Wyoming customers in Burlington, Otto, Emblem, Ten Sleep, Hyattville, and Hamilton Dome. Telephone service became a reality in 1956 when the first dial tone was made available to these areas. Tri County is a rural cooperative made up of 4 exchanges: Ten Sleep (366); Hyattville (469); Burlington (Otto, Emblem ‑ 762); and Hamilton Dome (867). These local exchanges include approximately 1000 access lines. The Tri County Telephone Association, Inc. business office is located at 405 S 4th Street in Basin, Wyoming.

In October of 1994, Tri County Telephone purchased seven telephone exchanges from US West resulting in a 700% increase in access lines over night. From that purchase, TCT WEST, INC., which is a subsidiary of Tri County Telephone, was formed to serve the exchanges of Basin/Manderson (568), Frannie (664/764), Greybull/Shell (765), Lovell/Byron/Cowley (548/484), and Meeteetse (868). There are close to 5000 access lines in these serving areas.

TCT customers benefit from state-of-the art services available in any urban area. Beyond regular telephone service that was the initial purpose of the cooperative, we’ve experienced a tremendous growth in  Internet and television services and other product offerings over the years. In addition to traditional phone service we also offer VONtel (VoIP), serving close to 1500 customers. Services are provided to customers in our Wyoming communities, as well as several communities in south-central Montana.

TCT is very proud of our standard high-speed Internet speeds of 20 Mbps provided in our fiber-to-the-home serving areas of Powell, Cody, Ten Sleep, and Burlington, with more communities being upgraded continually. We also offer DSL and wireless broadband Internet service to our other serving areas.

TCT’s broadband television service offers over 200 channels (including HD & music channels) plus DVR. We have provided each of our exchanges with a local channel and, in cooperation with school districts and municipalities, we provide coverage of community and school events to our subscribers.

Bundling of TCT Internet and television services with local telephone service provides customers the ability to save money, while receiving all three services from one company. TCT’s corporate office is currently located in Basin, Wyoming, with business offices in Cody, Lovell and Powell.

Tri County Telephone and its employees look forward to many more years of service to our customers, providing the highest quality communications and entertainment services and products available anywhere.
