Cow/Calf Program

We currently have a commercial herd of 1000 Angus cross cow/calf pairs. Our cows are bred to registered Beartooth Ranch Black Angus bulls and Pharo Black Angus bulls, which calve in March and April. We wean the calves in mid October and either background them in our feedlot or sell them at weaning depending on market conditions. They are raised and marketed as Natural.

** To keep in our natural program, our calves have received no sub-therapeutic antibiotics, synthetic hormones, synthetic growth promotants, or ionophores
** Calves receiving antibiotics are permanently marked and released from our natural program
** Calves are predominantly black hided
** Bull calves banded shortly after birth
** Clean hided, no brands
** Tagged at birth in order to track health and performance
** Pfizer Vaccination Program - Vaccinations at 2 months of age then given a booster 2 weeks prior to weaning
------> Bovishield Gold 5
------> Ultrabac 7
------> All calves BVD ear notched and tested to guarantee they are PI Neg
------> Dectomax is used at weaning for internal and external parasites
------> BQA procedures used, including injections given only in neck
** All cattle on ranch handled using Bud Williams's low stress handling techniques
** Raised prior to weaning on irrigated grass and mountain pastures using rotational grazing
